Where learning grows naturally
A small, teacher-led outdoor classroom for children aged 4-7.
Early English and maths form a central part of each session, thoughtfully taught within a calm, nature-rich environment.
Nestled within the peaceful Dunton Community Garden, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, Avara offers intentionally designed sessions for home-educated children in small groups.

About Avara
Children take part independently in groups of no more than ten, building confidence and friendships within a gentle and nurturing outdoor space.
Sessions run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (10am–2pm). Places are offered for one consistent day per week, secured per half term.
Each four-hour session is guided by a qualified Primary & Early Years teacher, with early English and maths taught carefully alongside wellbeing and meaningful outdoor learning.

Together, the children build strong foundations in early reading, writing and maths within a calm, consistent group. Stories and poems are read beneath trees; counting and early geometry are explored through natural materials and seasonal change. Children are given time to revisit and apply their learning in ways that feel meaningful, allowing understanding and confidence to flourish.
Avara Open Morning
You are warmly invited to a gentle open morning at Avara.
There will be a small selection of simple activities for children to explore at their own pace with you, so you can get a feel for the environment in a relaxed and unhurried way.
Warm drinks will be available in the open barn, and there is a compost loo on site.
Siblings are very welcome.
Avara is held within a shared community garden, so I kindly ask that everyone helps to respect the tranquillity of the space, and the gardeners who care for it.
I will be available throughout the morning for informal conversations. If you would like a more in-depth discussion about your child, you are very welcome to book a short appointment with me later that afternoon or on Wednesday.
If you’re planning to come to come along, you’re welcome to let me know below. There’s no need to book, this just helps me get a sense of how many biscuits I need!
